Dexter (blonde, 5 year old male over 100lbs) and his BFF Lucy (darker, 6 year old female over 100lbs) are a lovely pair of Golden Retrievers being surrendered to GRRAND as their owner is unable to care for them due to some disabilities and allergies, and knows it is best for them to be rehomed and have the chance to live their "best dog life ever!" They are both house-trained and crate-trained, but do not use the crate and have full run of the house when left alone. They sleep in their owners room either on the bed or on the floor wherever they like at night.
They are going to need a family who will work with them on a daily diet and exercise routine to help them lose some weight. We are told "Dexter and Lucy are a bonded pair, and express high anxiety if separated from each other. They are both from different litters but have had a family together from previous owner since puppies. They need to be adopted as a pair as they rely on eachother." Lucy is the leader but Dexter is always watching out for her!
Although initially energetic upon meeting new people, they quickly settle down and expect lots of love. Dexter and Lucy take treats gently and make perfect bookends at your feet. They live in a home with a pool, and both apparently do not like the water!
Lucy sleeps through major storms, including the recent tornado and Dexter may find a safe space in the bedroom closet or “water closet” but does not bark, whine or make any sound while navigating to a safe spot. They love their stuffed toys and often play take away!
They are leash-trained and get along with other dogs as they used to live with a Great Dane and even a cat. This bonded pair is very calm, love being petted, and are groomed every 3 months.
