Franklin 6/15/2026 - Golden Retriever Dog for Adoption in Louisville, Kentucky

Franklin is a 2.5 year old, male Golden Retriever at about 85ish lbs, looking for a calm home where he can be the only dog and an owner that can devote the time to building his trust and working through his anxieties and insecurities. Franklin has had a rough way to go, as he has been passed around and this has caused him stress, and he will need a home that can offer him exercise and direction and give him the quiet calm home he seems to need. He was previously in a home with a 7 month old puppy, and that was not a good fit for him at all, as he is very uncomfortable sharing space with other dogs, especially a puppy, and he would go find solitude and isolation to get away from it all.

Our GRRAND volunteers tell us: "This boy is handsome, friendly, smart, and fun. Franklin enjoys walks each day, (he walks great on leash and doesn't mind the rain as you can see from his pictures) and balls thrown for him in a fenced yard. Franklin loves to sniff an area and to check back in with you for pets. He will settle down on a dog bed or enjoy the quiet chewing of a dog toy. Franklin gently takes treats from you, knows basic commands, and would enjoy consistent guidance and training. Franklin is a people pleaser."

Franklin is house-trained and crate-trained and was in the crate when people were gone.
