POLAR - Dachshund and Terrier Dog for Adoption

Meet POLAR!

Polar is 3 months old and 11.8 lbs as of October 10, 2026. We think he’s a dachshund/lab/terrier mix! He’s a low rider with short little legs and just the cutest little guy!

He is currently being fostered in a home with several other dogs including his siblings and is great with them all. He likes to romp and play!

He’s exactly what you would hope from a puppy: playful, sweet and happy-go-lucky!

He’s been great with everyone he’s met so far and is good with men, women and children .

Given his age and demeanor, we know he’d be good with cats too, and this age is the perfect time for introductions!

He is vaccinated, fecal negative, on prevention (heartworm and flea and tick) and is ready to find his forever home!

**PLEASE NOTE: Polar is currently in Puerto Rico and will fly to his forever home once adopted! Please note that we can easily ship in cabin with a person to many airports including JFK, LGA, EWR, BOS, PHL, BWI, BDL, DCA, IAD, TPA, MCO, ORD and many more! The process is incredibly easy to get your dog over from Puerto Rico and we have done it thousands (not an exaggeration) of times! Any questions about whether we can ship to, please ask!***

Please feel free to email us with any questions about him! We are a small all-volunteer rescue and we see every email that comes through, so your inquiry will not get lost! See below for application info.

We strive for our dogs to be adopted into the right home. The best fit for the dog is our priority.

Please make sure you are ready to properly exercise and give a dog all it needs for fulfillment. Your ongoing time and day-to-day commitment are the most important things in caring for a dog.

In addition, we cannot guarantee breed of any dog, exact age or expected adult size of a puppy. Please note that even house-trained dogs will need help transitioning to an adopter's home and schedule. Thank you for understanding.

The dachshund is a small dog breed known for its long body, short legs, and distinctive appearance. Originally bred for hunting badgers, these playful and loyal dogs make loving companions for families. Dachshunds come in three coat varieties smooth, wirehaired, and longhaired each with its own unique charm. Despite their size, dachshunds are bold and courageous, with a curious nature that can sometimes lead to mischief. Their endearing personality and adaptability make them popular pets worldwide.

The terrier is a spirited and intelligent dog breed known for its feisty personality and boundless energy. Terriers come in various sizes and coat types, but they all share a common heritage as fearless and determined hunters. These dogs are typically highly trainable, making them versatile companions for active individuals and families alike. With their loyalty and playful demeanor, terriers are beloved for their endless enthusiasm and affectionate nature.
