DESCRIPTION

Meet CHOCO!

***Choco is being fostered in Dundalk, MD and is ready for meet and greets with approved adopters!***

Choco is estimated to be 1 year old and weigh about 35-40 lbs. We don't know his exact breed because we do not know his parents but we think he’s a Lab/Shepherd mix. He is such a stunning and majestic looking dog!

Choco's foster mom has nothing but amazing things to say about him. She reports that he is a gentle ana happy dog who has adjusted well to his new foster life in Maryland super quickly. He is very adaptable!

Choco gets along great with other dogs! He is currently in a foster home (with a woman who also does dog boarding) and as a result, he’s met at least 10 other dogs and has been excellent with them all. He loves to run around the yard with his canine friends as well as his biological sibling, Nate. He is playful and would make a great playmate for anyone looking for a friend for a current dog!

He is also excellent with children and all people! His foster mom has a 9-year-old daughter whom he enjoys cuddling with and giving kisses. He is sweet and gentle with her and respects her space. His foster mom says that of the two siblings, Choco is the more reserved one who takes a moment to get to know you, but once he does, he is all snuggles. In the beginning, he observed her daughter from afar and now he happily trots up to her for pets and cuddles. He's the kind of dog that would love to cuddle on the couch and watch a movie.

Choco is 100% house trained and does all business outside and has from the very beginning.

He is crate trained. He sleeps excellently throughout the night in his crate and sleeps soundly.

He is leash trained and walks well on a leash!

Overall, Choco is a quiet dog unless he hears an unfamiliar noise. For example, if he were sleeping and someone were to knock on the front door, he would wake up and bark, but he is not an incessant barker by any means.

In our care, he has not had any separation anxiety either. Per above, he is currently with some canine friends and is fine being left alone crated.

Choco is a good eater as well and does not resource guard his food.

He also travels well in a car, is calm, and does not get sick :)

As we mentioned, Choco is currently being fostered with his sibling, Nate! These two get along splendidly and so if you are looking for 2 dogs, this might be your pair! These two balance one another out in terms of personality. Nate is the more initially outgoing one and Choco will look to Nate to boost his initial confidence. Choco is a little more reserved initially but once he knows you, he is all snuggles as well, as mentioned above. While Choco and Nate are great friends, they are NOT truly bonded so can be adopted separately as well!

Choco is a very special dog and we can't wait to find him an amazing forever family!

HIS STORY: Choco was rescued as a very small stray puppy along with his sibling, Nate, in Puerto Rico by a young independent rescuer who had taken them in and cared for them and then reached out to us for help. We couldn’t say no!

Please feel free to email us with any questions about him or Nate! We are a small all-volunteer rescue and we see every email that comes through, so your inquiry will not get lost! See below for application info.

We strive for our dogs to be adopted into the right home. The best fit for the dog is our priority.

Please make sure you are ready to properly exercise and give a dog all it needs for fulfillment. Your ongoing time and day-to-day commitment are the most important things in caring for a dog.

In addition, we cannot guarantee breed of any dog, exact age or expected adult size of a puppy. Please note that even house-trained dogs will need help transitioning to an adopter's home and schedule. Thank you for understanding.
