DESCRIPTION
This handsome boy was brought to the HSOV on May 26, 2026 after he was found on Saint Andrews Boulevard (off Oxbow Road) in the Belpre Ohio area. Unfortunately, he did not have any form of identification (neither a dog license tag nor a microchip) to enable us to locate his family.
Since he had not yet been given an official shelter name when we posted his photos, we used the temporary name 'Saint Andrew'. Our shelter staff has now given him the name "Banana Split" ...
Banana Split is estimated to be 1-1/2 years old and most likely a Chocolate Labrador Retriever mix.
Banana Split has a gorgeous sleek brown coat, a white bib with brown ticking on his chest, white markings on his left front paw, a long tail, and a beautiful face with dark brown eyes, a splash of white on his slender muzzle, and rather large floppy ears.
Banana Split appeared to have a friendly, outgoing personality when HSOV Volunteer Jennie Payton Sherrard accompanied him for outdoor photos on the afternoon of May 26nd. He posed beautifully for his 'glamour pictures' .. Then got a little distracted when he noticed some of our HSOV shelter mascot kitties nearby.
Banana Split weighs 45 lbs and walked fairly well on a leash for Jennie.
In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Banana Split will be held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership.
Surely someone is missing this good-looking guy .. Please comment or call our shelter (740.373.5959) if this is your dog or you know who his owner might be.
As of May 30th, nobody has called or came looking for Banana Split.
