DESCRIPTION
Thumper is a cute 1-1/2 year old male mixed dog who was brought to the HSOV on May 14, 2026 by a Good Samaritan who had found him on Handschumaker Road off State Route 26 in Washington County Ohio. It broke our hearts to learn that Thumper had been found alongside the road in a ditch . Thumper was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped.
This little cutie pie has a tan shorthaired coat with a slight wavy/curly texture, a patch of white on his chest, white paws, a long tail, and an adorable face with innocent/hopeful dark brown eyes, a small white stripe on his face, black shading on his muzzle, and short floppy ears.
Thumper has a sweet, rather demure, personality ... And there's just something about this young man that makes me want to hold him close and promise that he will either be reclaimed or will be adopted by a loving family.
We took preliminary photos of Thumper in his floor crate (in our manager's office) which were very cute .. And took outdoor photos a little later when HSOV Volunteer Jennie Sherrard accompanied him for outdoor photos and a bathroom break.
Thumper doesn't appear to have had any walking-on-a-leash experience, but he LOVED being carried/snuggled in Jennie's arms.
Thumper weighs 27.1 lbs and is merely an overgrown puppy.
In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Thumper will be held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership.
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
