American Bulldog Dogs Available for Adoption in Marietta, Ohio

Bark Twain is a handsome adult male American Bulldog mix (perhaps 2-years old) who was brought to the HSOV on April 23, 2026 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden who had picked him up on Walnut Street in Belpre Ohio. Bark Twain was wearing a collar but there was neither an id tag nor a dog license tag on his collar ... And he was not microchipped.

This magnificent boy has a white shorthaired coat with patches of black/charcoal on his back/left side and at the base of his long tail. Bark Twain has an adorable face with a black/charcoal patch around his left eye, a blue/charcoal button nose, and short floppy ears.

These photos of Bark Twain were taken on April 24, 2026 when HSOV Volunteer Jennie Sherrard spent time with him in the green grassy area where most our outdoor pictures are taken. Bark Twain was a good sport about wearing a red/black/white bandana which featured a 'checkered race flag' pattern which showed off his white coat nicely. This big boy was a pushover for attention from Jennie, and he 'perked up' for his best poses (and smiles) when he saw another dog (Ares) in the distance who was waiting his turn with the paparazzi.

Bark Twain is a fairly big boy when you see him in person. He has not yet stepped on our scales for his official weigh-in, but he likely weighs 70-75 lbs. Bark Twain is very energetic/strong on a leash.

Bark Twain has already been neutered. This big boy was literally crying when he was first brought to our shelter and placed in a holding kennel in our Receiving Area. He surely was missing his family and couldn't understand why he was 'behind bars' in an unfamiliar place.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Bark Twain will be held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership.
