Jack is an adorable ball of cottony fluff that deserves the love and goodness of a great adopter with love in their hearts and an understanding that acclimation to a new life can take a bit of time.
Our sweet Jack has had a challenging time in his short life. Shelters are terrifying to a little guy who doesn't understand why he's in this terribly loud and scary place. A long transport from Houston to Boulder is equally so but worth everything to get Jack to a safe and nurturing environment. Through all the changes, this pup has never shown an ounce of aggression or meanness. It's as if he knows that a far better life is waiting for him.
At just about 4 - 5 years old and just 27 lbs, Jack is a perfect size for a retired couple or individual. He would thrive on the time and attention that this group often put into their doggy best friends. A younger individual that works from a home-based office (to cuddle sweet Jack periodically over the course of the day) would also be perfect for a little guy who is searching for love and acceptance in his life. With patience and without a time agenda, Jack will emerge and slowly his fears will slip away as he bonds with his new family.
Farfel's feels that Jack would be happiest as the one and only dog in his family. Once he understands that he is loved and cherished, Jack will become a loyal and bonded guy knowing that his environment is a safe and nurturing one. Since every dog's basic nature is to be loving, once this guy blossoms, he'll fall deeply in love with his family and become a very loyal best friend.
Our wish for Jack is a family that understands, and is patient with a dog that has gone through challenges and unkindness in his life. Farfel's has made a commitment to this wonderful dog, as we do with all our rescues, that we'll search until we find a forever family that will love, nurture and commit to him for the remainder of his life.
At this point in Jack's development, he would love to be a full-time best friend, but will hold back just a bit until he's sure that the recipient of his love is kind. If treated with patience during his acclimation to his new family and life, this sweet guy will absolutely shine.
Farfel's will nurture a positive vision of the world by matching Jack to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Jack, when ready, to attend positive reinforcement / force free obedience classes to be the very best dog he's capable of being. These classes develop very strong bonds between a family and their dog as well as teaching skills to enable that dog to socialize in the world with appropriate behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area.
Jack is completely house trained as well as having had extensive training with his previous person. It's still important, however, for Jack to experience training classes with his new family for bonding purposes with his people.
Our sweet guy, from the first moment, has had a love affair with his foster's fenced yard. He loves the freedom to run free, play fetch and just be a crazy guy with zoomies!
Jack does feel a bit fearful on leash when meeting other dogs. We wonder about a time earlier in his life when he may have had a bad experience. We feel, possibly due to that experience, that his preference is to be at home with his family having fun in his fenced yard.
We would love a quiet home for our little guy. Jack enjoys his quiet time at home and thrives on the familiarity of a schedule. He will fall hard for an individual or couple that enjoys quiet times in their home coupled with outdoor fun. Jack is happy going on rides in the car / van and will love the time together with his family.
Right now Jack is a blank slate who, with guidance, will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Jack, once comfortable is so loyal that he can easily be a constant companion. He would love nothing than backyard lounging and fun with his favorite people or just lap-sitting at the end of a busy day would be perfect for this very loving guy. Jack will be flexible enough, once comfortable, that he can be introduced to virtually any situation, and if there is love and gentle guidance, he can succeed.
Jack, with his gorgeous, tri-colored coat will require a lifelong commitment to periodic sudsy baths and excellent nutrition to keep his hair shining and cottony-soft. There has been extensive new research that a human-grade, natural diet will provide a healthier (far fewer vet visits) and longer life for our best friends. Farfel's recommends Chi Diet (chidog.com) due to our personal experience with the health of our own dogs. We wish the same for every dog we rescue.
Jack has been fully vetted and vaccinated to support Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. He has also been neutered to be in line with our commitment to zero population growth in the canine community.
Jack is currently in a foster home in the Denver area. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested in this cuddly and sweet as can be best friend, please fill out our application completely and submit.
**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Jack please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
