If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Finn is the guy you want to have around! Finn at between 3 & 4 years old and 58 lbs is just naturally a lover....when he looks at you with those dark, expressive eyes and sweet smile, your heart just can't help but melt.

Finn is a stunning Bernese Mountain Dog / Greater Swiss Mountain mix (two breeds well known for their sweet, gentle natures) with all the traits that make these super- smart and personality-plus dogs popular breed mixes for families and individuals searching for a very loving and loyal best friend.

Finn has a stunning coat that has been compromised by the harsh conditions of a high-kill Texas shelter. His coloring is gorgeous, the darkest black mixed in with beautiful chestnut colors throughout his coat. Finn (like all dogs) will require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths / brushing and excellent nutrition. A 5 star dog food and daily salmon oil supplement are great choices for hair care and longevity to keep Finn's coat cottony-soft and shining with good health.

Current research is very clear that the best diet we can provide for our pets is a fresh, human grade diet. Farfel's recommends Chi Diet (chidog.com) due to our personal experience with our own dogs. It's one of the most important choices we make for our dogs great health and longevity.

Finn is a young, healthy dog who will love a kind and respectful dog-crazy family with all his heart. He would also enjoy another gentle dog to play with and then to lie together in the sunshine enjoying a beautiful day. Finn will also do really well as on only dog. He's a quieter guy who gets overlooked because he never causes any problems and tends to stay in the background away from the chaos of the shelter.

I need to be really clear! Finn is absolutely one the greatest dogs ever and I don't say that lightly. He has been used on two different temperament tests because he’s such a chill boy. I am so impressed by his relaxed nature, and I think he could easily fit into any home.

Finn will do great with kids or seniors! He's an equal opportunity lover. This gorgeous guy just has a calm, gentle nature about him and I can’t speak highly enough of how wonderful he is. Sometimes the sweet, quiet dogs get overlooked and I hope that doesn’t happen to Finny because he really deserves the absolute best.

Shelter Notes:

Finn greeted shelter staff at the kennel gate with a neutral body, ears up, closed-lip smile and low wagging tail (Exactly what we always love to see!) Finn also did a great job keeping his kennel clean overnight so I would venture to say he's house trained

Sweet Finny is so respectful...he walked on a loose leash with a neutral body to and from the outside runs and paid little attention to other dogs barking and lunging at him (Finn is so above that kind of behavior) as he passed their kennels and runs. Once back in his kennel, he allowed staff to pet and love on him while receiving a toy for enrichment.

Finn is initially an active pup (although calms down very quickly) who will have so much fun exploring and taking long hikes along the Colorado trails. He's always open to new activities with a never-ending positive attitude...just say the word and up Finn will jump for a long hike along beautiful Colorado trails or a fun game of fetch in the backyard.

Finn is an extremely affectionate and loving pup! We would love to see him in a home with a family (older kids preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and kind best companion. We'd hate to see Finn left alone all day while his family works full-time outside of the home. We think he's too sensitive for that. He's such an amazing guy and just the right size and temperament to accompany his people just about everywhere a very sweet and social dog is welcome.

A positive reinforcement / force free group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills.
