Rose - Australian Cattle Dog Blue Heeler and Border Collie Dog for Adoption in Boulder, Colorado

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness and then they put their heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. These very loving and sweet as can be dogs are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them lost and alone or in an overcrowded high-kill shelter scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space.

Rose, at just 4 months old and 18 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 45 lbs when full grown) was facing the end of her life before it ever began due to a lack of shelter space. Farfel's rescue partners are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this gorgeous girl with the great temperament. They rescued Rose just in time to spare her life.

Rose is starting out with great energy. The excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a brand new life. Our sweet girl is also incredibly beautiful with gorgeous dark eyes displaying wisdom far beyond her years.

Rose has the potential for a stunning coat (with the most amazing markings). Her hair is currently shelter-tired but once on a regular protocol of care, it will be gorgeous and cottony-soft with excellent health. Rose will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a salmon oil supplement are excellent regimens for longevity and hair care) keep her coat soft and shining with great health.

Current research is very clear that the best diet we can provide for our pets is a fresh, human grade diet. Farfel's recommends Chi Diet (chidog.com) due to our personal experience with our own dogs. It's one of the most important choices we make for our dogs great health (far fewer vet visits) and longevity.

Rose is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly. Our sweet Rose would be very excited to be a couch or bed dog and snuggle with her favorite people at the end of an active day. She's also SO smart and engaging - very typical of the super-smart herding dog breeds.

We'd love for Rose to find her forever home with an energetic retired couple or individual with the desire to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart pup. Rose would also be thrilled with a younger family that works from a home-based office to love her up periodically over the course of the day.

Sweet Rose enjoys her relationships with all humans and dogs. We would prefer, however, to place her in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment with a puppy will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Rose enjoys her relationships with other dogs as well and would love playing hard and then enjoying the sunshine together on a beautiful day.

This 4 month old (an almost perfect age..old enough to be past the initial babyish behaviors and young enough to be a sponge soaking up new training concepts) has many, many healthy and active years ahead. This 18 lb cutie-pie is anticipated to be approximately 35 lbs when full-grown. This is such a great size for backyard play, long walks and snuggling close all night long. Rose truly lights up when she feels like she's done a good job. Belly rubs and kind words will send her over the moon. With a bit of post-shelter confidence and love, she will be overjoyed when she's finally found her forever family.

Rose doesn't require another dog to be happy. She loves her people dearly and if they're attentive and loving, this sweet and loyal girl will be fulfilled and happy. If a gentle dog is already part of a family, that's great with Rose as well. She enjoys her time spent in the company of a gentle canine and that dog will become her best friend.

Rose will do well with any loving guardian who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure. It can be a leisurely walk socializing with neighbors, a picnic in the park or a visit with family or friends. A car ride is also always fun, especially if it leads to a fun, dog-loving spot. At day's end, a spot on the couch or bed beside her favorite humans will speak to the loving nature of this sweet puppy.

Rose will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. New research is clear that fixing a dog as a puppy isn't in that dog's best interest. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Rose's spay and microchip once she's one year old if one of our rescue vets is used.
