Rosie - Australian Cattle Dog Blue Heeler Dog for Adoption in Boulder, Colorado

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness and then they put their heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. These very loving and sweet as can be dogs are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them lost and alone or in an overcrowded high-kill shelter scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space.

Rosie, at just 4 months old and 18 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 45 lbs when full grown) was facing the end of her life before it ever began due to a lack of shelter space. Farfel's rescue partners are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this gorgeous girl with the great temperament. They rescued Rosie just in time to spare her life.

Rosie is believed to be primarily a Blue Heeler (Cattle Dog) mix, but may have some gorgeous black Lab in her as well.

Rosie is starting out with great energy. The excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a brand new life. Our sweet girl is also incredibly beautiful with gorgeous dark eyes displaying wisdom far beyond her years.

Current research is very clear that the best diet we can provide for our pets is a fresh, human grade diet. Farfel's recommends Chi Diet (chidog.com) due to our personal experience with our own dogs. It's one of the most important choices we make for our dogs great health (far fewer vet visits) and longevity.

Rosie is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly. Our sweet Rosie would be very excited to be a couch or bed dog and snuggle with her favorite people at the end of an active day. She's also SO smart and engaging - very typical of the super-smart herding dog breeds.

We'd love for Rosie to find her forever home with an energetic retired couple or individual with the desire to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart pup. Rosie would also be thrilled with a younger family that works from a home-based office to love her up periodically over the course of the day.

Sweet Rosie enjoys her relationships with all humans and dogs. We would prefer, however, to place her in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment with a puppy will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Rosie enjoys her relationships with other dogs as well and would love playing hard and then enjoying the sunshine together on a beautiful day.

Rosie will do well with any loving guardian who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure. It can be a leisurely walk socializing with neighbors, a picnic in the park or a visit with family or friends. A car ride is also always fun, especially if it leads to a fun, dog-loving spot. At day's end, a spot on the couch or bed beside her favorite humans will speak to the loving nature of this sweet puppy.

Rosie will be up to date on her vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. New research is clear that fixing a dog this young isn't in that dog's best interest. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Rosie's spay and microchip once she's one year old if one of our rescue vets is used. Spay is required to finalize any adoption.

Applications are currently being accepted for this silly, sweet and loving best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Rosie please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

The Australian Cattle Dog, also known as the Blue Heeler, is a hardworking and intelligent breed originally developed in Australia for herding cattle. Renowned for their endurance and agility, these medium sized dogs have a striking blue or red speckled coat and alert, curious expression. With a strong herding instinct and boundless energy, they require mental stimulation and physical activity to thrive. Blue Heelers are loyal, protective, and make excellent companions for active individuals or families willing to provide the engagement and exercise they need.

Farfel’s Farm & Rescue was founded on the idea that each dog deserves a loving home and the chance for a happy life. We are so thrilled to be able to rescue these amazing dogs from urgent situations in Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas and Cancun, Mexico. Working with a dedicated team of volunteers, the dogs are pulled from high-kill shelters because they’ve been recognized for the gifts they will bring to a loving family. They are then transported by specially licensed vans to Colorado for a second chance at life. The dogs are evaluated and treated for any medical issues before being transitioned to their new family, where they can become accustomed to having a family’s love, a warm bed and plenty of healthy food!
