Utah is a 4-year-old female Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix with a beautiful blue merle coat and an even sweeter personality. Utah currently weighs 41 lbs. She and another aussie were surrendered to our rescue when family had to move back to Ireland and were not able to take them with.

She is an incredibly loving, gentle girl who truly just wants to be close to her people. Utah is potty trained, very smart, and knows several commands, including sit, down, leave it and come. She walks very nicely on a leash and is an attentive, eager-to-please companion.

She absolutely loves cuddling, being peted and spending time with her people. She would thrive in a home where she can receive plenty of attention and be part of the family. Utah is NOT a constant go-go-go dog. She has a nice ability to settle and relax and is perfectly happy lounging around. When it's time to play, though, she absolutely loves playing fetch with a ball and could happily play for hours!

Utah does have a few little quirks that her future family should know about. She is not the most comfortable with her paws being touched or held and prefers that people don't get too close to her face. Giving her space and respecting those boundaries is important to helping her feel comfortable and secure so she may do better in a household without young children.

Utah has lived with another dog and gets along with them. She tends to tolerate rather than actively play with other dogs, so she could do well in a home with a dog who respects her space. That said, she would also be very happy as the only dog in the home. Utah is very intelligent and has strong herding instincts. She doesn't nip, but she will show those natural herding tendencies while playing. She'll do best with a family who appreciates an intelligent dog and will continue giving her opportunities to learn and use her brain. If you're looking for a smart, affectionate, loyal companion who loves both cuddling on the couch and playing a good game of fetch, Utah may be your girl.

Utah is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. She does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day.
