**NOTE: All AVA kittens under 12 months of age MUST be adopted in pairs or to a home with another young cat. AVA does not accept applications for single kittens**
***Nixie MUST have a cat friend in his forever home. Brother Alexi is a perfect tabby complement in warm orange to Nixie's brown swirls.
Pixie, Dixie, Nixie and Alexi were siblings rescued from a barn in rural central Ontario. They have been in foster since they were about 7 weeks old, very comfortable with other friendly cats, and exposed to the company of a calm, docile dog with varying degrees of acceptance to date.
Nixie is a brown tabby with swirly stripes and huge ears better to hear the treat bags being shaken or meals being prepared. He is super brave most of the time, but cries when he finds himself alone. He comes running when called and LOVES food in general, but especially grilled fish and Temptations. With three other siblings, Nixie is still a bit food-dominant, and feels the need to cover his food with his paws and growl to keep the others away. Hopefully with time and food security, this behaviour will diminish.
Nixie is the most interested in the dog, and likes to approach her to sniff when she's not looking or moving. He is also a little shadow that trails after his foster mom, wanting to know everything that goes on and just in case a lap is available to cuddle on. Sshhhh....don't tell the others, but he is secretly her favourite!
Nixie enjoys the company of other cats, but having his own people to bond to is paramount for his happiness. He would do well with any of his siblings, but making friends with other social cats is also a possibility.
Would you like to make Nixie and sibs a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.
Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.
Adoption fees are $275 for each kitten up to 12 months old. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
All AVA kittens 12 months or younger must be adopted in pairs or go to a home with another young cat (3 years or younger). Kittens learn from each other how to behave, which helps them turn into well-adjusted adult cats. In general, paired cats have happier and healthier lives because they have a constant companion and playmate. Plus, it's twice the fun for you, and half the work!
