**NOTE: All AVA kittens under 12 months of age MUST be adopted in pairs or to a home with another young cat. AVA does not accept applications for single kittens**
***Dixie would love to have sister Pixie accompany her to their forever home together. But she can also befriend a social kitty if need be. Either way, Dixie MUST have a cat friend.
Pixie, Dixie, Nixie and Alexi are siblings whose momma birthed them in a barn in rural central Ontario. They were rescued when they were about 7 weeks old, and have been in foster ever since.
Dixie is a kitten who knows her own mind and not afraid to let it be known, true to her calico-esque markings. She is a curious girl always in motion, and loves toys more than anything in the world — springs, tunnels, anything that moves must be investigated and thoroughly checked out.
Dixie is already an accomplished lap cat, and enjoys sitting with her foster mom while she watches movies. Demonstrating her calico-tude, she is excited by the idea of Temptations, but often doesn't actually eat them. Why? Only Dixie knows! She is a brave soul when confronted by the foster's calm dog, and holds her ground while she hisses at her, but does not actually seem scared.
Dixie is a lovely blend of spicy and sweet, and would brighten up any home with her bigger-than-life swagger tempered by affectionate purry cuddling. Add on sister Pixie, an equally sassy ally, and you double up on the fun and laughs!
Would you like to make Dixie, and maybe Pixie too, a part of your family? Please complete our online application found at: https://www.avacats.org/adoption-application-form.
Our adoption fees cover vetting and include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines (initial FVRCP and rabies), flea treatment, two dewormings and microchipping.
Adoption fees are $275 for each kitten up to 12 months old. Please note that fees may apply for additional required vaccinations (at $75 per booster) due prior to adoption. Total adoption fees will be confirmed by the AVA Adoption Coordinator.
All AVA kittens 12 months or younger must be adopted in pairs or go to a home with another young cat (3 years or younger). Kittens learn from each other how to behave, which helps them turn into well-adjusted adult cats. In general, paired cats have happier and healthier lives because they have a constant companion and playmate. Plus, it's twice the fun for you, and half the work!
