Coo-bec - Pigeon Bird for Adoption in Chicago, Illinois

Coo-bec has come a long way over the last few months - and we mean that both literally and figuratively. A former racing pigeon, this little adventurer is originally from Canada where one day in the summer of 2026, at only a few months old, she was driven miles away from home and released. She decided instantly, however, that racing wasn’t for her, and instead chose to focus her energy on a much more fitting quest: finding the perfect home.

Her journey started with a trip to Michigan where she met a kind stranger who recognized she needed some help. When Coo-bec told him about her quest, he offered to take her on a six-hour road trip to Riverside, Illinois, where she could connect with Audrey, a GLPR volunteer. Coo-bec said that that sounded great, as long as she could pick the music.

After connecting with Audrey, Coo-bec made the next leg of her trip to GLPR headquarters where she’s had quite a long layover. She was a little nervous when she first arrived, but over time has really started to come out of her shell. She likes to greet people with head bows and wing twitches, and loves a chance to spend time with volunteers and explore, (which is no surprise, given her adventurous nature.) She’s already chartered her trip home and we’re happy to help her finish her quest! We just need an address!
