DESCRIPTION

Bolt is an adorable 3-year old male Boxer/Labrador Retriever mix who was originally brought to the HSOV late in the afternoon on August 19, 2024 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden who had picked him up in the vicinity of the Kiwanis Club (Gilman Avenue in Marietta Ohio). Bolt was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped.

This good-looking guy has a snow white coat, a patch of brown at the base of his long tail, and a beautiful face with soulful brown eyes, a black button nose on his cute long muzzle, and extra-large floppy ears.

Bolt has a super sweet disposition and a happy, outgoing 'Type A' personality.
Bolt appeared to have been accustomed to spending leisure time on a comfy sofa since he was a wanna-be lap dog from the very first moment we met him.
Bolt is super sweet with his people friends and also with other dogs.

Bolt's history/background is rather length, so please bear with us:

Bolt went home with a foster family on October 22, 2024 and was neutered by the foster family's veterinarian. Bolt was officially adopted by his foster family on November 19, 2024.

Things went well for Bolt over the next few months until he was picked up near the Washington Street Bridge in Marietta Ohio on April 11, 2025 by the Marietta Police Department and brought to HSOV. Fortunately Bolt had a microchip, and we were able to contact his adopted family and he was placed on a 14-day hold for them. Sadly, his family decided to surrender him back to our shelter instead of reclaiming him .. So Bolt was looking for a new family who would love/cherish him forever and ever. He was such a good boy!!

Bolt weighed 52 lbs when he entered the shelter on April 11, 2025.

Bolt went home with a foster family on May 27, 2025 who planned to adopt him if all went well... But, unfortunately, Bolt was returned by his foster family on May 28th 2025.

Bolt went home with a foster family on July 27, 2025 who offered him the hospitality of a real home environment while he waited for his forever home (so that he didn't have to be in a shelter kennel). Bolt was still available for adoption, and we hoped that someone would complete an adoption application for him.

Bolt returned to HSOV on May 27, 2026 after he learned to 'high jump' the fence in his foster family's fenced-in yard, and they feared he might be in danger of being hit by traffic if he ventured into the road. His foster mother gave Bolt a glowing report of his behavior while he shared their home:

"Bolt is a very lovable guy. He got along great with all of the other dogs, cats and children in our home, and he is housetrained."

These photos of Bolt were taken on May 28th 2026 when HSOV Volunteer/Board Member Mel Hartz spent time with Bolt so that our photographer could take updated pictures of Bolt. This boy just gets more handsome with time and a little maturity. Bolt is still as playful as a puppy, and he loved attention from Mel. Bolt was curious about other dogs that he saw being walked in the distance by other volunteers and seemed anxious to make their acquaintance. Bolt was 'over the moon happy' when Mel Hartz spent the evening at the shelter for the after-hours dog walk ... And she treated to Bolt to an extra-long walk.

Bolt will make some lucky family or individual a wonderful companion. He is now nearly 5-years old and has patiently waited for the perfect home .. And we hope that the old saying "third time's a charm" will hold true for Bolt and that he will soon find his forever home
