Petey
Eight years old, 10lbs
Rescued in the southwest
Vaccinated and altered
Meet Petey (aka Little, Bub)! This sweet, loving, quiet guy is low energy and deeply devoted to his person — he'll actually come find you if you're in another room too long. He handles new situations well, though loud, abrupt noises or yelling can make him a little nervous (he's taken ambulances and loud music in stride, for what it's worth). He's great with adults and older kids, though younger kids' big energy might stress him out. He’s curious but a bit cautious meeting new dogs. When left alone or when guests visit, he’s totally at ease.
Petey is fully potty trained, excellent on leash (no pulling, always listens when it's time to go), and knows an impressive set of commands: sit, turn around both ways, come here, and drop it. His days follow a gentle, consistent walk schedule morning through night, with naps in between, and while he doesn't need much exercise, he genuinely loves to explore and will happily keep walking as long as you let him. He's a huge cuddler, practically silent (no barking at all), content to watch the world go by from a window, and easygoing enough to hang out calmly on a patio while you catch up with friends. He'd do well as an only dog with someone who's around most of the day, or in a two-dog household so he'll have company during long work hours — either way, he thrives as the devoted lap-dog companion. His foster describes him as full of character with wildly expressive eyes, funny, curious, and coming further out of his shell every day — practically the perfect quiet city dog, aside from his tendency to try to sneak a bite of whatever you're eating.
Petey previously tested positive for heartworm and was treated before he left the south.
