Some dogs you know everything about before they arrive. And then there's Cookie — whose history is largely a mystery, but whose face tells you everything you actually need to know. Look at that smile. That is not the smile of a dog who has given up on the world. That is the smile of a dog who is genuinely delighted to be in it.

Cookie is a fawn, scruffy terrier mix, approximately 1 years old and 18 pounds of scrappy, sandy-coated charm. She's known to be warm with people and easy with other dogs — the kind of girl who walks into a new situation with her tongue out and her tail up, ready to make the best of it. Whatever her story has been up until now, she is arriving in New York City with her whole heart open.

She'll need some continued work on house training, leash manners, and basic obedience — which means her foster family gets a front row seat to her progress. Terriers are famously spirited and clever, and Cookie has the look of a dog who will surprise you. A little consistency, a little patience, and a lot of that smile coming back at you every single day.

Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Negative for heartworm disease and current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
