Nellie is a 10-year-old, 5 lb sweetheart who came to Waggytail from Alabama. After a difficult past, likely spent as a breeding dog, Nellie is finally ready to enjoy the soft, peaceful life she deserves with a forever family of her own.
This tiny girl settled into foster care almost immediately and has shown herself to be the definition of a cozy companion. Nellie loves curling up in a soft dog bed (preferably on the couch), soaking up gentle affection, and staying close to her people. At night, she sleeps peacefully in her playpen with her pee pads and water nearby. When left alone, she relaxes comfortably with her foster siblings and happily snoozes the day away without separation anxiety.
Nellie is both pee pad and outdoor trained and sleeps through the night without issue. She walks nicely on leash, though with her tiny little legs she prefers a slower pace. Since coming into rescue, Nellie had a mammary tumor removed and also lost almost all of her teeth, but she has healed beautifully and continues to blossom every day.
She forms deep bonds with the people she loves and has the sweetest, most devoted nature. Nellie would thrive in a calm, quiet home that embraces peaceful routines, cozy afternoons, and lots of love. She enjoys the companionship of calm, similarly sized older dogs and would likely do well with respectful older children and mellow cats.
If you're looking for a gentle best friend who will fill your home with warmth, comfort, and unconditional love, Nellie is ready to make your world a little softer — and a lot sweeter.
Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Negative for heartworm disease and current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
