Cynthia Sweet, Smart, and Ready to Learn
Age: 1 Year | Size: Small Mixed Breed | Current Weight: Gaining steadily!
Meet Cynthia, a beautiful 1-year-old soul who is looking for her forever home! Her story begins at the ACC in Queens, where she entered care as a stray with no known background. In the overwhelming shelter environment, Cynthia was exceptionally fearful and completely shut down. But with a little time, love, and a lot of patience, her resilient spirit and adventurous side are finally beginning to shine through.
She's got the perfect balance of energy and snuggles — happy to trot along on walks (stick collecting is her favorite hobby) and just as happy to curl up on the couch for cuddle time afterward.
She's whip-smart and a joy to train. She already knows “sit” and picks up new commands quickly with a few training treats as motivation. Bully sticks are her favorite toy so far. At night, she settles right into her crate with zero fuss.
She's doing great with potty training — only a couple accidents every day — as she acclimates to a new schedule and routine. She gets along with other dogs in calm, low-key settings — she is currently living with a 10-pound senior sidekick.
Because of her tough start in life, Cynthia needs a specific environment to continue blossoming into the dog she is meant to be. She requires a patient, quiet home with a person or family who will understand her background and let her decompress at her own pace. Because fast movements and lots of reaching hands can easily overwhelm her, a home without small children is best for her comfort and peace of mind.
Additionally, she will need a dedicated family ready to provide some extra TLC and good food to help her keep gaining steadily.
This girl just needs a patient, loving home to keep helping her thrive. If you have the patience to show this brave girl how beautiful the world can be, she will reward you with a lifetime of loyalty and snuggles. Ready to meet Cynthia? Fill out an application today!
