Meet Queso!
Warning: This little Queso might just melt your heart!
Queso is an adorable 512-month-old male Terrier/Chihuahua mix who is ready to find his forever family!
This sweet boy came into our rescue from South Texas, along with his littermates. Now he’s getting the second chance he deserves, and we’re hoping his next chapter will be filled with love, comfort, and a family who will treasure him forever!
Based on his breed mix, we believe Queso will stay on the smaller side when fully grown, although his exact adult size cannot be guaranteed.
At just 512 months old, Queso is still a puppy with lots to learn! His future family should be ready for potty training, socialization, leash training, and helping him grow into a happy, confident adult dog.
Queso is scheduled to arrive in Virginia on November 13th! We’ll have more information about his personality and temperament once he’s had a chance to settle into foster care.

Why Adoption Fees Matter
Most of our dogs are rescued from high-intake shelters or straight off the streets in South Texas, where packs of stray animals run loose. Your adoption fee directly covers the significant costs required to bring these dogs to safety.
We are a registered nonprofit rescue, and any funds remaining after expenses go directly toward helping animals with major medical needs who might otherwise be left behind and euthanized.
Your adoption fee covers:
Transport: Safe transport from Texas to our local foster homes, costing approximately $200 to $230 per dog.
Vetting & Preventive Care: Neuter surgery, age-appropriate core vaccines, deworming, a heartworm test (if old enough), and microchipping.
VCA Medical Partnership: Every adoption includes a complimentary first exam at any participating VCA Animal Hospital within the first 14 days. VCA also provides limited health coverage of up to $250 for qualifying minor illnesses, such as kennel cough or ear infections, diagnosed during that initial two-week window.
Important Rescue Policies
No Foster-to-Adopt Program: We do not offer a foster-to-adopt option. The majority of our dogs are already settled into loving local foster homes, and we aim to minimize unnecessary moves for their emotional well-being. Additionally, our rescue insurance policy prohibits it.
Breed and Size Guarantees: We cannot guarantee the breed mix or adult size of any dog in our care. Listed breeds are our best guess based on physical traits. Because our dogs are rescues with unknown histories, we cannot guarantee that a dog is not mixed with pit bull.
