Meet Buster!
Looking for a little dog to bring some big love into your life? Meet Buster!
Buster is an adorable 2-year-old male Dachshund who is ready to start a brand-new chapter with a loving family!
This handsome little guy was surrendered to our rescue by his previous owner in South Texas. Now Buster is getting a second chance at finding a forever home where he’ll be loved and cherished!
Buster has been around children a handful of times and has been friendly during those interactions! His experience with other dogs is somewhat limited, as he has primarily been around his Shih Tzu brother.
We’ve been told Buster is house-trained! However, he has only lived indoors and hasn’t had opportunities to go outside. He may need a refresher on potty training as he adjusts to a new home and learns an outdoor potty routine. His future family should be prepared to offer patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement during this transition.
At approximately 2 years old, Buster is past the young puppy stage, but he may still need some time to adjust to life in a new home. Patience, consistency, and plenty of love will help him settle in and build confidence.
Buster is scheduled to arrive in Virginia on November 13th! He is currently in boarding, so we don’t have a full picture of his personality and temperament just yet. Once he arrives and settles into foster care, we’ll be able to share more about this handsome little guy!

Why Adoption Fees Matter
Most of our dogs are rescued from high-intake shelters or straight off the streets in South Texas, where packs of stray animals run loose. Your adoption fee directly covers the significant costs required to bring these dogs to safety.
We are a registered nonprofit rescue, and any funds remaining after expenses go directly toward helping animals with major medical needs who might otherwise be left behind and euthanized.
Your adoption fee covers:
Transport: Safe transport from Texas to our local foster homes, costing approximately $200 to $230 per dog.
Vetting & Preventive Care: Neuter surgery, age-appropriate core vaccines, deworming, a heartworm test (if age appropriate), and microchipping.
VCA Medical Partnership: Every adoption includes a complimentary first exam at any participating VCA Animal Hospital within the first 14 days. VCA also provides limited health coverage of up to $250 for qualifying minor illnesses, such as kennel cough or ear infections, diagnosed during that initial two-week window.
Important Rescue Policies
No Foster-to-Adopt Program: We do not offer a foster-to-adopt option. The majority of our dogs are already settled into loving local foster homes, and we aim to minimize unnecessary moves for their emotional well-being. Additionally, our rescue insurance policy prohibits it.
Breed and Size Guarantees: We cannot guarantee the breed mix or adult size of any dog in our care. Listed breeds are our best guess based on physical traits. Because our dogs are rescues with unknown histories, we cannot guarantee that a dog is not mixed with pit bull.
