Meet Ella May, an almost nine-year-old Terrier/Doxie mix weighing 30 pounds.
Ella May is a sweet, low-rider girl with a gentle spirit and an easygoing nature. She was surrendered alongside Sebastian due to being over the city limit for pets. While her past situation involved a bit of adventure, you’d never guess it from her calm, relaxed demeanor—she truly moves through life like a steady, low-key companion.
Despite everything she’s been through, Ella May is adjusting well and doing her best to settle into her new environment. She is understandably a little nervous and seems to miss her people, but she continues to show a soft, sweet personality as she gains confidence day by day.
Ella May walks nicely on leash and enjoys calm strolls where she can take in the world at her own pace. She’s surprisingly agile and youthful in her movement—you’d never guess her age just by watching her.
She would do best in a patient, loving home that can give her reassurance and stability as she transitions. With time and care, Ella May is likely to blossom into a loyal, easy companion who simply wants to be close to her people again.
This sweet girl is ready for a fresh start and a safe place to land.
And once she’s comfortable, her personality really starts to shine—Ella May is a bit of a toy collector, gathering them up like a little dragon guarding her treasure rather than actually playing with them. She loves a soft bed to curl up in, prefers to keep herself clean like the little queen she is, and can be a bit particular about treats (though she has no complaints when it comes to the occasional table scrap).
She has a wonderfully social past too—she was reportedly good with a bird, even allowing it to land on her. She also gets along well with other dogs and has a generally social attitude toward cats, though play styles can vary: sometimes she’ll give chase, and other times she’s the one being chased.
Ella May is also a champion "foot warmer," happiest when she can be close to her people and part of the moment in a quiet, comforting way.
