Lucy - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Petersburg, Virginia

Lucy is a four month old female puppy who came to Petersburg Animal Care and Control on August 26, 2026 with her littermate Linus. She is a pale cream color with a pink nose, soft folded ears and white on her chest and feet. She is good with other dogs.

Lucy is four months old and everything is still new to her. She walks out with her mouth open and her tongue hanging out, and she noses through the grass like every inch of it needs checking. She is comfortable around people and around her brother.

Being honest about what we do not know: Lucy has not been around children or cats, so we have no way to tell you how she would do with either. She is a puppy, which means house training, chewing and basic manners are all still ahead of her. That work is the trade for getting to raise her yourself.

Lucy can go home on her own. She does not have to be adopted with Linus.

We prefer to schedule appointments for meet and greets to make sure someone is available to spend time with you. The shelter is open Monday through Friday, 12pm to 4pm, and appointments outside of those hours may be available based on volunteer availability.
