Meet Dolly!
Dolly is estimated to be a 1-2 year old Shepherd/Terrier mix who came to us as a stray and, sadly, was never claimed.
We don't know much about Dolly's life before she arrived, but it's pretty clear that the world is still a big, uncertain place for her. She is an incredibly sweet girl with a quiet, sensitive nature, but she can be very shy when meeting new people or experiencing new things. We suspect she simply didn't get the socialization and positive experiences she needed early in life.
But give Dolly a little time, and you'll get to see the dog hiding underneath all that uncertainty.
Once Dolly decides you're a friend, she is so sweet and affectionate. She wants that connection-she just needs someone patient enough to let her find it at her own pace.
Unfortunately, the shelter is a difficult place for a quiet girl like Dolly. The noise, unfamiliar people, and constant activity can be overwhelming, and we would love nothing more than to see her blossom in a calm, loving home.
Dolly isn't looking for someone to rush her or expect her to be the life of the party on day one. She's looking for someone kind, patient, and willing to celebrate the little victories-the first time she approaches you on her own, the first tail wag, and the moment she realizes she's finally somewhere safe.
If you have a soft spot for the shy ones, Dolly might just be your girl.
