Tansy would like it officially noted that being 9 years old does not mean she is ready to slow down. In fact, we're not entirely sure anyone has told her that she's a senior. This little 17-pound lady is a total firecracker. She plays, runs, investigates, goes on long walks, gets into things she probably shouldn't, and she is generally very committed to making sure there is never a dull moment around her! Which makes it especially remarkable considering how Tansy looked when she first arrived.
Tansy was found as a stray in San Bernardino in truly awful condition. She had a severe skin infection covering her entire body and was missing almost all of her fur. She also had a nasty ear infection, was extremely skinny, and clearly hadn't been properly cared for in a very long time. The shelter wasn't equipped to give her the long-term treatment she needed, so we brought her to Pug Nation, and then the work began.
Tansy has been with us since April. She has gone through multiple rounds of medication, countless special baths, and a whole lot of TLC. It took months, but she's finally feeling like herself again! Her skin is not completely back to normal, and she will probably always have some bare patches on her belly and neck where her fur won't grow back. She has chronic skin allergies, so her future family will need to stay on top of her skin care, including regular baths and her long-term medication to keep her comfortable.
But here's the funny thing about Tansy: none of that seems to have made her particularly interested in taking it easy. This girl has PLANS. She loves people and wants to be involved in whatever you're doing. She loves going out for walks, playing, getting attention, and curling up with her humans when she's finally worn herself out. She's also extremely food motivated, which means you can absolutely expect her to have a few tricks up her sleeve if there's a treat involved.
Other dogs are welcome too! Tansy enjoys having canine friends, particularly ones who are willing to match her energy when it's time to play and then collapse beside her when it's time for the post-play nap. She's honestly a pretty funny combination: part senior lady, part toddler who just discovered she has a lot of energy. And after everything she's been through seeing her act like this is one of our favorite things.
Tansy spent months getting healthy enough to finally enjoy her life again. She has worked hard for this version of herself, and now she needs someone who will keep her feeling good and let her enjoy every bit of it. She'll need an adopter who understands that her skin will require ongoing care. But in exchange, you're getting a dog who has absolutely no intention of being boring. Tansy has already had the rough chapter. We're ready to see her get the ridiculously happy ending. Could that be with you?! Please inquire today!
