DESCRIPTION

Meet Niblet! She's about a year old, weighs just 12 pounds, and somehow has already packed enough life experience into that tiny body for about three dogs.

Niblet was originally found as a stray and ended up at the Riverside Shelter. There were a few things going on with her that the shelter wasn't equipped to handle, so they called us. We brought her in, started figuring out what was going on, and immediately noticed that Niblet has a very unusual way of getting around.

She is wobbly. Really wobbly. Niblet sort of moves like a bunny who forgot which direction she was supposed to be going. She can look like she's walking sideways while simultaneously sprinting forward, and watching her zoom around is honestly pretty amazing. At first, it was thought she might have luxating patellas, but our vet ruled that out. It turns out she has a mild neurological issue that affects her coordination. But the important part? It doesn't hurt her. And don't let the wobbly walking fool you...this little girl can MOVE. She gets around surprisingly well and can be extremely fast when she puts her mind to it. She just does everything with her own unique Niblet technique.

And then there was the belly. When Niblet first arrived, we noticed she had a little bit of a belly on her. We figured maybe she was just carrying a few extra pounds. Nope. She was pregnant. She'd somehow managed to get pregnant while living on the streets and apparently kept the whole thing pretty well hidden. Once our vet confirmed it, she went ahead and gave birth THE VERY NEXT DAY. But Niblet handled motherhood like a champ. She was a gentle, loving mama, took great care of her puppies, and did exactly what she needed to do.

Now her puppies are growing up and heading off to find homes of their own, and Niblet has officially retired from motherhood. She is ready for the much more important job of being someone's spoiled little baby. And boy, does she enjoy that job.

Niblet is a total lover. Human attention is basically her favorite currency, and she wants to be right in the middle of whatever you're doing. She is affectionate, silly, bouncy, and just a tiny bit ridiculous in the best possible way. She also enjoys other dogs and especially likes having younger, playful dogs around who are willing to keep up with her antics.

She's had a pretty wild first year. She survived life as a stray, ended up pregnant, became a mom, raised a litter, and somehow managed to do all of it while navigating the world on her own slightly sideways little legs. Now we'd really like life to get a lot simpler for her. She just needs people who think her quirks are adorable, who will let her be her weird little self, and who are ready to give this goofy, affectionate girl the stability and love she's been missing. She's one of a kind that's for sure! Interested in this very special little lady? Please inquire today!
