Meet Choco

Hi, I'm CHOCO — because, well, I'm the color of a big bar of chocolate!

Not too long ago, I was found wandering along a busy street in Houston. I was scared, pretty badly matted, and had no idea what was going to happen to me. Thankfully, some wonderful people came along and changed everything.

I'm about 2 years old and 35 pounds, and they tell me I'm a Doodle.... or a Poodle. Hmmmm...I'm not sure what that means, but I do know I'm very happy to be safe, fed, loved, and off the streets.

I'm not quite ready for adoption yet, but I'm getting closer every day. I'm still a shy guy, especially when I meet someone new. My fosters at our Rescue ranch are helping me with socialization and leash training, and they tell me I'm doing great. I just need a little patience and time to figure out that people can be pretty wonderful.

Oh, and apparently some pesky Houston mosquito gave me heartworms. The good news? Its completely treatable, and I'm already halfway through treatment! Twilight Tails will continue to pay for treatment until they are all gone. I feel great and absolutely love running and playing in the yard.

I can be cautious around strangers at first, but there's no aggression in this chocolate boy. I just need a chance to warm up, feel safe, and get to know you. Once I do, you'll start seeing the sweet, playful guy who has been hiding underneath all that uncertainty.

I had a rough start, but that's behind me now.

If you have a little extra patience, a safe place to land, and room in your heart for a sweet, shy chocolate boy...
