Diablo
There's something about owner surrenders that just pulls at your heart.
Sometimes life changes in ways no one could ever prepare for.
Diablo's family found themselves without a place to live, and with nowhere they could take him, they were faced with one of the hardest decisions a pet owner could ever make. Through tears and heartbreak, they decided to surrender their pet .
You could see how difficult it was for them.
And you can see how difficult it is for Diablo.
One day he had a home. Familiar smells.
Familiar faces.
A bed he knew.
A routine he understood.
Then, in what probably felt like the blink of an eye... everything changed.
When Diablo first arrived, he was scared. The shelter is loud, unfamiliar, and overwhelming, especially for a young dog who never imagined he'd end up here. He wasn't showing us his true personality... he was simply trying to figure out why his whole world had been turned upside down.
And honestly... can you blame him?
But even through all that uncertainty, you can already see how sweet he is.
Just look at those eyes.
Look at those adorable little ears.
He's trying so hard to be brave in a place that doesn't feel like home.
Diablo is only around a year old, so he has his whole life ahead of him. According to his previous owner, he has lived with children and did well with other dogs, although we have not dog-tested him here at the shelter yet.
We were told he is not good with cats.
We know there is a happy, playful, goofy young dog hiding behind those worried eyes. We just haven't had the chance to meet that version of Diablo yet.
Maybe all he's missing is someone willing to believe in him.
Maybe those worried eyes are just waiting for one person to show him that not every goodbye has to be forever.
Let's make his stay at The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project as short as possible and help this sweet boy find the fresh start he deserves.
