Dotty - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Wheeling, Illinois

Dotty is living in a foster home, but you can meet her at our adoption event at PetSmart in Mount Prospect (101 E. Euclid Ave.) on Saturday, September 5th, from 10 AM to 12 PM! Please submit an application from our website or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to inquire about her!

Dotty came to us from rural Alabama with her mom Dixie and her sisters Dora, Delilah, Debbie, and Daisy. Dotty went to a foster home with her sister Daisy, where they've been decompressing and learning how to be polite puppies! Dotty's foster describes her as a confident, spunky puppy. Even though she is smaller than her sister, Dotty is usually the one in charge. She loves to explore, seldom barks, and tends to relax easily in her crate.

Dotty is an adorable hound mix with the sweetest brown eyes that make her look wise beyond her years. She loves playing with toys, learning new tricks, and snuggling with her sister or her foster mom.

As a puppy, Dotty is still learning the basics; house breaking, which items are OK to chew, and what a leash is for. She would really benefit from puppy classes as well! If you provide this guidance, you will be rewarded with affection, loyalty, and plenty of entertainment for years to come!

Dotty's adoption fee is $450. This animal is spayed/neutered, and is up to date on core vaccines appropriate for their age.

They will need a rabies vaccine at 4 months of age and a Heartworm test between 6-7 months of age at the adopter's own vet.

Since she is a puppy, any adopter should anticipate needing to work on housebreaking and other training using positive reinforcement training only.
