I've had a rough start to life, but I'm learning that the world can be a safe and happy place. I'm Butters, a 2 year old, 20 pound Heinz 57 super mutt who is slowly discovering what it means to be loved, cared for and part of a family. I'm still a pretty fearful girl, and I need a patient, quiet home that will let me take things at my own pace. I came from a hoarding situation, and we don't know how much positive interaction I had with people before coming to Rescue One. I suspect it was very little, or possibly not positive at all. Because of that, I'm working hard on becoming a more confident dog, and I need someone who will celebrate my little victories and never rush me. I'm good in my crate, and I've been faithfully using puppy pads, but I'm not fully house trained yet. Going outside and being on a leash are still scary for me, so we're taking things slowly as I work toward potty training and becoming comfortable on a leash. Because I'm a flight risk, I absolutely need a securely fenced yard and a home that will be very careful about keeping me safe. The good news is that I'm starting to discover how much fun life can be! I'm enjoying playing with other dogs and would love to continue building my confidence around friendly canine friends. I also have the cutest little quirk: I love to hoard toys in my crate. I don't chew them up or destroy them. I just want to collect my treasures and have all my favorite toys safely tucked away with me. I'm looking for a quiet, patient forever home where I can finally learn that I don't have to be afraid. I may need some extra time, understanding and encouragement, but I have so much potential. Give me a safe place, a little patience and a whole lot of love, and I'll keep showing you just how far this scared little girl can go.
