DESCRIPTION

Meet Mirae A Brave Girl with a Heart Full of Love

5 years, Female (Spayed), Weight 14 kg (31 lbs)

Mirae is a resilient and affectionate girl who has overcome an incredibly difficult past. She was found wandering alone on a rural road after losing her left hind leg. A compassionate volunteer spent a long time earning her trust by feeding her regularly before she was finally rescued and given a second chance at life.

Despite everything she has been through, Mirae is incredibly loving and devoted to people. She enjoys staying close to her humans more than anything else and will happily spend her day relaxing by your side. While she occasionally plays with stuffed toys, people are truly her favorite.

Mirae has adapted wonderfully to life on three legs and enjoys exploring the outdoors. She is currently continuing her leash training and gains confidence with each walk. Indoors she has a calm, relaxed personality, while outdoors she enjoys moderate activity at her own pace.

She has no separation anxiety and is food-motivated without being possessive. Mirae is friendly with people but would do best as the only dog in the home. She tends to become jealous around other dogs and prefers having her humans all to herself, where she truly shines.

Mirae allows gentle handling but can be frightened when someone tries to pick her up, especially if they touch her hindquarters. Nail trimming is particularly stressful for her, likely because of the trauma associated with the injury she suffered before rescue. She does well with baths, and with patience and understanding, continues to build trust during handling.

Mirae is looking for a family that will appreciate her gentle heart and give her the love and security she has always deserved. If you're searching for a loyal, affectionate companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Mirae may be the perfect match.

**Ideal Home**

* A home where she can be the only pet
* A patient family that understands her sensitivity during handling
* Someone looking for a loving, people-oriented companion rather than a dog focused on playing with other animals

Mirae has already proven how strong she is. Now all she needs is a forever family to share her future with.

Adoption Fee: $525

### Please Note###

*Mirae is currently living in a foster home in Korea. Once she is adopted, she will be transported to the U.S. Because of this, we are unable to arrange in-person meet-and-greets. We are happy to provide detailed information, photos, and videos to help you get to know her.
* We do not recommend leaving dogs alone for more than 4 hours. If you expect to be away longer, we strongly encourage doggy daycare or another appropriate care option.
* We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 8 years old.
* Applicants must be at least 25 years old and live within a 45-minute driving distance of Springfield, Virginia (Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC suburbs only).
* A home check is required before adoption.
* Applicants must have a social media account so we can receive post-adoption updates. We monitor all adopted pets to ensure they continue to thrive.
* Once your application is approved, we will request a copy of your identification through a secure app and/or complete a background screening.

Many of our rescue dogs had very little socialization before entering our program. As a result, skills such as house training, leash walking, and adjusting to family life may take a little extra time. Patience, understanding, and gentle guidance are essential. The good news is that most of our dogs adapt remarkably well, and helping them blossom into confident family companions is an incredibly rewarding experience.

*** About us ***
Hope For Donghae Paws(HDP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to bringing rescue dogs from Korea to the US and finding permanent homes for them. It is true there are many animal lovers in Korea, but still many dogs suffer and are killed for food.
Our mission is to find US homes for mixed-breed dogs whose chances of being adopted in their native Korea are very low.
