Meet Dalsu A Sweet, Gentle Companion Looking for Love

Dalsu is a gentle, affectionate little dog with a heart full of love. After spending years surviving on the streets in a rural village, he was eventually rescued from a municipal shelter. During his time as a stray, a kind volunteer made sure he never went hungry by feeding him regularly until he could finally be brought to safety.

Despite his difficult past, Dalsu absolutely adores people. He'll happily roll over to show you his belly the moment he meets you and is always eager for affection. His favorite place is simply by your side, yet he's also independent and relaxes comfortably when left alone, showing no signs of separation anxiety.

Dalsu has a very low energy level and enjoys a quiet, relaxed lifestyle. Although he had never experienced walks before being rescued, he has recently learned to enjoy them and is making wonderful progress. Because the outside world is still new to him, he will benefit from continued gentle exposure and confidence-building in unfamiliar environments.

He is fully house-trained, doesn't bark, has no aggression, and has no marking behavior. Dalsu gets along well with people, is neutral around other dogs, and shows no interest in cats. He has a strong love for food, but he has never shown any food-related aggression.

Dalsu enjoys baths and tooth brushing, though nail trims can be stressful for him and require patience and a gentle approach.

*Dalsu is currently living in a foster home in Korea. Once she is adopted, she will be transported to the U.S. Because of this, we are unable to arrange in-person meet-and-greets. We are happy to provide detailed information, photos, and videos to help you get to know her.
* We do not recommend leaving dogs alone for more than 4 hours. If you expect to be away longer, we strongly encourage doggy daycare or another appropriate care option.
* We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 8 years old.
* Applicants must be at least 25 years old and live within a 45-minute driving distance of Springfield, Virginia (Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC suburbs only).
* A home check is required before adoption.
* Applicants must have a social media account so we can receive post-adoption updates. We monitor all adopted pets to ensure they continue to thrive.
* Once your application is approved, we will request a copy of your identification through a secure app and/or complete a background screening.

An HDP volunteer will contact you after carefully reviewing your application. Please allow a few days for the review process.

Many of our rescue dogs had very little socialization before entering our program. As a result, skills such as house training, leash walking, and adjusting to family life may take a little extra time. Patience, understanding, and gentle guidance are essential. The good news is that most of our dogs adapt remarkably well, and helping them blossom into confident family companions is an incredibly rewarding experience.

This medium sized, spitz type dog has a distinctive double coat that sheds seasonally. Known for their independent nature, Jindos require early socialization and firm, consistent training. With a strong prey drive and territorial instincts, they excel as hunters and watchdogs. Their deep bonds with their owners make them loving companions, albeit not suitable for inexperienced owners.
