Hodong is a handsome 6.5-year-old Jindo mix weighing about 20 kg (44 lbs). He is a calm, gentle boy with a kind heart who loves people and enjoys spending time outdoors on peaceful walks.
Hodong was rescued along with his brother, Janggun, from an elderly owner who kept them confined in a cage with very little care and intended to sell them to the dog meat trade once they were older. Thankfully, both dogs were rescued before that could happen and now have the chance to find loving forever homes.
Hodong is neutered, healthy, and fully house-trained for outdoor potty breaks. He has a good appetite, enjoys his daily walks, and has a moderate energy level, making him an excellent companion for a family looking for a relaxed, easygoing dog.
He is very affectionate with people and enjoys being petted and handled. While he may step away if approached too suddenly or if he thinks something unfamiliar is about to happen, he is never aggressive and simply prefers a gentle, patient approach.
Hodong gets along well with most dogs during calm introductions. However, he is not interested in rough or overly energetic play and does not appreciate dogs that jump on or mount him. For this reason, he would do best as an only dog or with another calm, respectful canine companion.
He has minimal separation anxiety, walks well on a leash, accepts baths and nail trims without difficulty, and has no known escape tendencies. He occasionally marks outdoors.

*HODONG is currently living in a foster home in Korea. Once she is adopted, she will be transported to the U.S. Because of this, we are unable to arrange in-person meet-and-greets. We are happy to provide detailed information, photos, and videos to help you get to know her.
* We do not recommend leaving dogs alone for more than 4 hours. If you expect to be away longer, we strongly encourage doggy daycare or another appropriate care option.
* We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 8 years old.
* Applicants must be at least 25 years old and live within a 45-minute driving distance of Springfield, Virginia (Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC suburbs only).
* A home check is required before adoption.
* Applicants must have a social media account so we can receive post-adoption updates. We monitor all adopted pets to ensure they continue to thrive.
* Once your application is approved, we will request a copy of your identification through a secure app and/or complete a background screening.

Many of our rescue dogs had very little socialization before entering our program. As a result, skills such as house training, leash walking, and adjusting to family life may take a little extra time. Patience, understanding, and gentle guidance are essential. The good news is that most of our dogs adapt remarkably well, and helping them blossom into confident family companions is an incredibly rewarding experience.
