Meet Janggun A Gentle, Loyal Jindo Mix
Breed: Jindo Mix
Age: Approximately 6.5 years
Sex: Male (Neutered)
Weight: 20 kg (44 lbs)
Janggun is a sweet, gentle soul looking for a peaceful forever home. He and his brother, Hodong, were rescued from a heartbreaking situation where they were kept in a cage with minimal care and were at risk of being sold to the dog meat trade. Thankfully, they were rescued in time and given the opportunity for a new beginning.
Despite his difficult past, Janggun has remained affectionate, trusting, and incredibly kind. He enjoys being close to his people, receiving gentle pets, and going on leisurely walks. With a moderate energy level, he's happiest in a calm environment with a predictable routine.
Janggun is fully house-trained for outdoor potty breaks, walks nicely on a leash, and is comfortable with baths and nail trims. He has minimal separation anxiety and is generally easygoing around the house.
He gets along well with calm, respectful dogs but isn't interested in rough play or overly energetic companions. He hasn't been tested with cats or young children, so a quiet adult home or one with older teens would likely be the best fit.
Although Janggun may occasionally step away if someone approaches him too quickly or he feels unsure about a situation, he has never shown aggression. He simply prefers a gentle, patient approach and quickly builds trust with kind people.
If you're looking for a loyal, low-maintenance companion who will happily join you for walks and quietly relax by your side, Janggun could be the perfect addition to your family.
Adoption Fee: $475
### Please Note###
*JANGGUN is currently living in a foster home in Korea. Once she is adopted, she will be transported to the U.S. Because of this, we are unable to arrange in-person meet-and-greets. We are happy to provide detailed information, photos, and videos to help you get to know her.
* We do not recommend leaving dogs alone for more than 4 hours. If you expect to be away longer, we strongly encourage doggy daycare or another appropriate care option.
* We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 8 years old.
* Applicants must be at least 25 years old and live within a 45-minute driving distance of Springfield, Virginia (Northern Virginia and the Washington, DC suburbs only).
* A home check is required before adoption.
* Applicants must have a social media account so we can receive post-adoption updates. We monitor all adopted pets to ensure they continue to thrive.
* Once your application is approved, we will request a copy of your identification through a secure app and/or complete a background screening.

Many of our rescue dogs had very little socialization before entering our program. As a result, skills such as house training, leash walking, and adjusting to family life may take a little extra time. Patience, understanding, and gentle guidance are essential. The good news is that most of our dogs adapt remarkably well, and helping them blossom into confident family companions is an incredibly rewarding experience.
*** About us ***
Hope For Donghae Paws(HDP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to bringing rescue dogs from Korea to the US and finding permanent homes for them. It is true there are many animal lovers in Korea, but still many dogs suffer and are killed for food.
Our mission is to find US homes for mixed-breed dogs whose chances of being adopted in their native Korea are very low.
