Meet Sasha!!
This gorgeous gal somehow ended up at a high kill shelter in Houston. When her time was up and she landed on the euthanasia list, an amazing foster stepped in and offered her a place to go, saving her life. Now Sasha is safe, getting pampered, soaking up all the love, and absolutely thriving.
Now onto the best part... Sasha herself.
Sasha is your pretty typical high energy husky girl. She is estimated to be 1yr old and weighs around 45lbs (she needs to gain a few pounds still). She loves romping around the yard, playing with her foster fur siblings (sometimes a little too enthusiastically), and going on walks. She'd love another friendly dog in her forever home, but we aren't sure an old low energy dog would love her play style.
She can get overstimulated in new situations and would definitely benefit from a family who wants to continue working on her training. The good news? Sasha is super smart, eager to engage, and has enough zest for life to make training with her a lot of fun.
She is potty trained and kennel trained, although she would like it formally noted that the kennel is not exactly her favorite place. She also knows basic commands; sit, lie down, wait, jump up (for jumping up into the car). She also rides great in the car and is probably one of the best shotgun riders around.
Sasha has done well with all the kids and people she’s met, but she can be excitable and jumpy when she’s wound up. Because of that, we think older kids would probably be the best fit, or a husky savvy family who understands how to manage all that enthusiasm around littles.
And yes, she has opinions. She’ll let you know when she needs to go outside and may occasionally sing the song of her people in the morning just to remind everyone that there is, in fact, a husky living in the house. We think it's adorable and tell her all the time that she has the voice of an angel.
For all her energy and silliness, Sasha is also incredibly loving. Once the adventures are over, she’s more than happy to cuddle up on the couch and collect as many belly rubs as you’re willing to give. We think she’d thrive with an active family who wants a dog to actually do life with, walks, adventures, training, playing in the yard, and then crashing together on the couch afterward.
Sasha is currently being fostered in Houston, Texas, but is available for adoption around the country. Her local Texas adoption fee is $350.
She is currently completing treatment for heartworm disease and is expected to be ready to be adopted around the beginning of October.
