Meet Marty!

This distinguished gentleman somehow ended up at a high-kill shelter in Houston. After only a few weeks, Marty was added to the euthanasia list, and the volunteers who had gotten to know him were panicked. They couldn’t believe such a perfect boy was going to be killed. Thankfully, a team of foster families stepped up for him, saving his life.

And now, onto the best part: Marty himself.

Marty is what we like to call a guy’s guy. He’s perfectly happy hanging with all the fellas for a game of poker with his foster dad. Yep, those two are basically peas in a pod. Don’t get us wrong Marty loves all humans but his foster dad is definitely his go to person at the moment. This is noteable because some rescue pups can be slow to warm up to men, but not Marty. He's good from the get-go with everyone he meets.

Marty has met kids, dogs, and even cats and has done well with everyone. He’s a pretty calm guy who enjoys relaxing on the patio and watching the world go by. Sure, he’ll throw out an occasional alarm bark, tail a wag because, well, that’s his job. He’s a dog. But overall, Marty is quiet, chill, and happiest just being near his people.

Marty has had all kinds of foster siblings from teeny tiny dogs to giant ones, and he’s gotten along with everyone. He loves going on pack walks with his foster siblings and would be perfectly happy sharing his forever home with another friendly dog.

Marty is potty trained, walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, and is kennel trained although he would like it officially noted that he is not a fan of the kennel and far prefers the couch. Thankfully, he doesn’t destroy things in the house, so he really doesn’t need to spend much time in one anyway. A kennel free family would be his dream.

At the end of the day, Marty isn’t asking for much. He just wants people who are around and who truly make him part of the family. He wants to hang out with you, go for car rides, tag along on adventures, brunch the patio, and generally be included in whatever you’re doing. He'd also really love a yard with some space to explore.

We’d consider Marty a medium energy, 10/10 good boy. He’s estimated to be around 5 years old (the perfect age, past all the puppy riff raff) and currently weighs about 65 pounds. He’s still thin and could stand to gain a few pounds to reach his healthy weight.

Marty is currently fostered in Houston, Texas, but he is available for adoption throughout the country. His $600 adoption fee includes transport to his forever family.

Marty is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease and will be ready to transport to his forever home at the beginning of October once treatment is complete.
