Meet Conan!
Conan is a handsome young boy ready for a fresh start with a family of his own! He is approximately 5–5.5 months old and currently weighs around 20–25 lbs. We think he will reach roughly 50–60 lbs when fully grown, although his adult size is only an estimate. We believe Conan is a Hound mix, but without a DNA test, we cannot confirm his exact breed mix.
Conan has been at the shelter since September alongside his brother, Collin. After being found wandering and brought in by animal control, no one came forward to claim him. Now, he is waiting for someone to give him the opportunity to grow up in a loving home. More photos of Conan will be available soon!
Still very much a puppy, Conan has a playful personality and plenty to learn. His future family should be prepared to help him with potty training, basic commands, socialization, and household manners. A consistent routine, patient guidance, and positive encouragement will help him adjust to life outside the shelter.
Conan enjoys other dogs and would likely be happy to have a canine friend to play with. Another dog is not required, however, and he could also do well as an only dog with a family who provides plenty of companionship and opportunities to socialize. He will need daily exercise, play, and mental enrichment as he grows into an adult dog.
He has not been formally tested with cats, so we cannot guarantee feline compatibility. A home with a cat may be considered with an adopter who understands the importance of gradual, supervised introductions and proper management. His exposure to children has also been limited. Older, respectful children who are comfortable with an energetic puppy may be the best fit while he learns his manners.
A home with access to a yard would give Conan space to safely play and explore. A securely fenced yard is preferred, but it is not a requirement. Apartments and condos may be considered on a case-by-case basis, as long as his adopters can consistently meet his exercise, training, and enrichment needs.
Conan needs a family committed to every stage of his life, from puppyhood through adolescence and beyond. There will be new routines to learn and skills to practice, but also the joy of watching him gain confidence and become part of the family. With patience, structure, and love, we believe he has so much potential to be a wonderful lifelong companion.
The shelter where Conan is staying is severely overcrowded, leaving dogs like him with uncertain futures simply because there is not enough room. He has already spent precious weeks waiting. We would love for his next chapter to include a comfortable place to sleep, time to play, and people of his own to love.
Health:
Conan is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and on monthly preventatives. He is currently too young for heartworm testing.
Important Information:
All of our dogs, including Conan, are currently located in Texas and will be transported to their adopters once the adoption is finalized. Transportation is included in the adoption fee.
Please note that adopters will not be able to meet Conan in person before committing, as transport occurs after the adoption has been finalized.
Breed labels are educated guesses based on appearance and available shelter or medical records. We encourage adopters to focus on each dog’s individual personality, needs, and long-term compatibility rather than breed alone.
