Meet Magnus!

This handsome boy has been waiting far too long to find his forever home, and we think it's time we change that. Magnus is truly one of the sweetest boys and has unfortunately spent much of his puppyhood growing up in a shelter environment. He is more than ready to leave kennel life behind and finally experience what it means to have a home and family of his own.

Magnus is estimated to be around 10.5-11 months old, weighs approximately 50 lbs, and seems to be close to full grown. Without a DNA test, we cannot confirm his breed, but we suspect he is a Pittie/bully breed mix. Please don't let this deter you from considering him. There is unfortunately still a negative stigma surrounding Pitties and other bully breeds that causes so many wonderful dogs to be overlooked and puts countless deserving dogs at risk.

We don't know much about Magnus' life before coming to the shelter. He was found as a stray back in June and has been growing up in a shelter environment ever since. Despite spending such an important part of his young life without the stability of a home, the shelter has nothing but positive things to say about him. We truly believe that once Magnus has consistency, structure, and a family to call his own, he is going to flourish.

Magnus is your typical young pup: happy, energetic, playful, and still learning! Because he is still young and has spent several months in a shelter, we are looking for a patient and dedicated family who understands that he will need continued guidance as he transitions into home life. His adopter should be prepared to work with him on basic obedience, potty training, household manners, and establishing a consistent routine.

Magnus is reported to have quite a bit of energy. We suspect that some of this is simply due to his young age combined with spending so much time in a shelter, where opportunities for regular exercise and mental stimulation can be limited. Regardless, we would love to find him an active family who is excited to include him in their lifestyle and can provide plenty of appropriate physical exercise, mental enrichment, playtime, and training.

Magnus has reportedly done great with other dogs and seems to really enjoy having canine friends. However, sometimes his enthusiasm and energy can be a little much for certain dogs. If his future home has another dog, we think a playful, higher-energy companion or a patient, tolerant dog who is comfortable with his puppy energy would likely be the best match. Another dog is not required, and Magnus could also be considered for a home where he would be the only dog.

Due to growing up in the shelter, Magnus has not had extensive exposure to children. Based on everything the shelter has observed, he seems to love just about everyone he meets, and we think he has the potential to do well in a family with children. However, because he is an energetic 50-lb young dog who is still working on his manners, older children may be the best fit simply because he could accidentally knock over a smaller child when excited.

We also don't have reliable information about how Magnus behaves around cats. Because we don't want to make assumptions about compatibility, we think a cat-free home would be the safest option at this time.

Given Magnus' size and energy level, we would love to see him in a home with access to a yard, ideally one that is securely fenced, where he has plenty of room to play and burn off some energy. However, a fenced yard is not a requirement. We are also open to apartments and condos on a case-by-case basis as long as his adopter is committed to making sure his daily exercise, enrichment, and activity needs are consistently met.

Overall, Magnus is a sweet, happy young dog with so much potential. He has spent far too much of his puppyhood growing up behind shelter walls, and he deserves the opportunity to learn what life in a real home is all about. His future family should understand that there will likely be an adjustment period and that he isn't going to arrive knowing every household rule on day one. What he needs is someone willing to give him patience, consistency, training, appropriate outlets for his energy, and plenty of love while he learns.

The shelter Magnus is currently in is severely overcrowded, and without a committed adopter, dogs like him face uncertain futures. Magnus has already spent months waiting and growing up in a kennel. He is ready for someone to finally see his potential and give him the safe, stable, loving home he deserves.

HEALTH:
Magnus is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, on monthly preventatives, and heartworm negative.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
All of our dogs, including Magnus, are currently located in Texas and will be transported to their adopters once the adoption is finalized. Transportation is included in the adoption fee. Please note that adopters will not be able to meet Magnus in person prior to committing, as transport occurs after the adoption has been finalized.
