Meet Lola!
Meet this beautiful girl, Lola! She is approximately 7–8 months old and currently weighs around 35 lbs. She may still have a little growing left to do, but we expect her to remain a nice medium size once fully grown. Without a DNA test, we cannot confirm Lola's breed with certainty, but she is listed as a Beagle mix. As with most rescue dogs, breed labels are simply educated guesses based on appearance and available shelter or medical records.
Lola was found as a stray and eventually made her way into the shelter. Sadly, no one ever came to claim her, and she has been waiting there since August. She has already spent an important part of her puppyhood growing up in a shelter environment, and we would love nothing more than to see her finally experience life as a beloved family dog.
Despite her uncertain beginning, Lola is a sweet, playful young pup with so much potential. At only 7–8 months old, she is still learning about the world and will need a patient and dedicated family committed to helping her transition from shelter life into a home. Her adopter should be prepared to continue working on potty training, basic obedience, leash skills, socialization, household manners, and establishing a consistent routine.
Like most dogs her age, Lola has plenty of youthful energy and curiosity. She would thrive with a family willing to keep her both mentally and physically stimulated through daily walks, playtime, enrichment, training, and plenty of opportunities to explore. With patience, consistency, and guidance, we think she has all the potential to become an incredible companion. Lola loves other dogs and would likely do wonderfully in a home with a canine companion who can play with her and potentially help show her the ropes. Another dog is not required, however, and she could also thrive as the only dog with a family committed to providing plenty of attention, exercise, and socialization.
She has not been formally tested with cats, so we cannot guarantee feline compatibility. A home with a cat may be considered with an adopter who understands the importance of slow, controlled introductions and proper management.
Lola has also had limited exposure to children while living in the shelter. Based on what we know about her, we think she has the potential to do well with children, although slow and supervised introductions are always recommended. Because she is still a young dog learning her manners, respectful children who understand appropriate boundaries with dogs would be the best fit.
We would love for Lola to have access to a yard, ideally one that is securely fenced, where she can safely play and explore, but a yard or fence is not required. Given her manageable size, we are also happy to consider apartments and condos as long as her adopter is committed to providing her with appropriate daily exercise, enrichment, and outdoor time.
Lola's future family should understand that while she may be getting closer to her adult size, she is still very much a young dog. After spending months in a shelter, she may need some time to adjust to the routines and expectations of living in a home. She doesn't need someone expecting perfection from day one—she needs someone willing to teach her, be patient with her, and give her the stability she hasn't had yet.
The shelter where Lola is currently staying is severely overcrowded, and dogs like her face uncertain futures simply because there isn't enough space. Lola has been waiting since August, and we would love to see her leave the shelter behind and start the next chapter of her life with a family of her own.
Health:
Lola is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and on monthly preventatives.
Important Information:
All of our dogs, including Lola, are currently located in Texas and will be transported to their adopters once the adoption is finalized. Transportation is included in the adoption fee. Please note that adopters will not be able to meet Lola in person prior to committing, as transport occurs after the adoption has been finalized.
