Meet Tansy!
With her silky fawn coat, one striking blue eye, and sweet personality, Tansy has so much to love! She is approximately 7.5–8 months old and currently weighs around 50 lbs. We don’t expect her to get much bigger and think she should stay under 70 lbs when fully grown, although her adult size is only an estimate. We suspect she is a German Shepherd/Husky mix, but without a DNA test, we cannot confirm her exact breed mix.
Tansy’s beginning was a difficult one. She was found as a tiny, fragile puppy in desperate need of care. Thankfully, a dedicated foster took her in and nursed her back to health, giving her the chance to grow into the happy, healthy girl she is today. Tansy has been available for adoption since April and has grown up in foster homes rather than in the shelter. Now, she is ready to find the family who will make her a permanent part of their lives.
Her foster experience has given Tansy plenty of opportunities to make friends, and she is great with other dogs of different sizes. She loves having canine companions to tumble, wrestle, and play with. A home with another playful dog could be a wonderful fit, although another dog is not required if her family can provide plenty of companionship and opportunities to socialize.
Tansy also has a silly side, especially when toys are involved. Her plush T-Rex is a particular favorite, and she loves showing off her playful personality. When she isn’t busy with her toys or doggy friends, she is happy to stay close to her people. Her caregivers describe her as sweet, gentle, affectionate, and generous with kisses!
Looking for a walking buddy or some company on a drive? Tansy is reported to be a good walking partner and a polite, quiet passenger in the car. She would enjoy a family who includes her in everyday activities and makes time for exercise, play, and mental enrichment.
Although she has had the benefit of growing up in a home, Tansy is still a young dog who will need continued guidance. Her adopters should be prepared to reinforce potty training, basic obedience, household manners, and a consistent routine as she adjusts to her new family. Patience and positive encouragement will help her build on what she has already learned.
Tansy has not been formally tested with cats, so we cannot guarantee feline compatibility. A home with a cat may be considered with adopters who understand the importance of slow, supervised introductions and careful management. Her compatibility with children would also need to be considered individually. Older, respectful children who are comfortable with a playful dog of her size may be the best fit.
We would love for Tansy to have access to a yard where she can safely play and explore. A securely fenced yard is preferred, but it is not required. Apartments and condos may be considered on a case-by-case basis, provided her family can consistently meet her exercise, training, and enrichment needs.
Tansy has already overcome a difficult start and spent months waiting for a family to choose her. Her fosters have given her care, comfort, and room to blossom; now she needs someone committed to her through adolescence and into adulthood. We would love to see this affectionate girl find a home where her toys, her kisses, and her joyful personality will be welcomed for years to come.
Health:
Tansy is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and on monthly preventatives.
Important Information:
All of our dogs, including Tansy, are currently located in Texas and will be transported to their adopters once the adoption is finalized. Transportation is included in the adoption fee.
Please note that adopters will not be able to meet Tansy in person before committing, as transport occurs after the adoption has been finalized.
Breed labels are educated guesses based on appearance and available shelter or medical records. We encourage adopters to focus on each dog’s individual personality, needs, and long-term compatibility rather than breed alone.
