Meet Mandy!
A tennis ball, a walk, and someone to love—Mandy’s wish list is pretty simple! This beautiful girl is approximately 7.5–8 months old and currently weighs around 30–35 lbs. We don’t think she will get much bigger and expect her to top out at roughly 50 lbs, although her adult weight is only an estimate. We believe she is a Shepherd mix, but without a DNA test, we cannot confirm her exact breed mix.
Mandy was found wandering and brought in by animal control. Sadly, no one came forward to claim her, and she has been at the shelter since August. She is still so young and deserves the chance to spend the rest of her puppyhood learning, playing, and feeling loved in a home of her own.
According to shelter staff, Mandy is a fetch enthusiast in the making! Toss a tennis ball and you’ll quickly win her attention—and she may just ask you to throw it again. She is also learning that a leash means adventure and gets excited to head out of her kennel for walks. She is still practicing her leash skills, but her enthusiasm makes these outings something she looks forward to.
Beyond her playful side, staff describe Mandy as a gentle, affectionate girl who simply wants someone to love. She would be a wonderful match for a family who enjoys walks, playtime, and helping a young dog discover the world. Daily exercise, mental enrichment, and a consistent routine will help her settle in and put her puppy energy to good use.
Mandy loves other dogs and would likely enjoy a canine companion to play with and learn alongside. Another dog is not required, however. She could also do well as an only dog with adopters who provide plenty of attention and opportunities for continued socialization.
Although Mandy is past the tiny puppy stage, she still has plenty to learn. Her family should be prepared to work on potty training, basic obedience, household manners, and continued leash training. Patience and encouragement will be especially important as she adjusts from a shelter environment to life in a home.
She has not been formally tested with cats, so we cannot guarantee feline compatibility. A home with a cat may be considered with an adopter who understands the need for gradual, supervised introductions and proper management. Mandy has also had limited exposure to children. Older, respectful children who are comfortable with an enthusiastic young dog may be the best fit while she continues learning her manners.
A yard would give Mandy a lovely place to play fetch and explore safely. A secure fence is preferred, but it is not a requirement. Apartments and condos may also be considered on a case-by-case basis, as long as her adopter can consistently meet her exercise, training, and enrichment needs.
We are looking for a family committed to Mandy through adolescence and into adulthood. With guidance, structure, and love, this sweet girl will have the opportunity to build confidence and grow into a cherished lifelong companion.
Mandy’s shelter is severely overcrowded, and dogs like her face uncertain futures simply because there is not enough space. She has already spent months waiting. We would love to see her next walk lead toward a new beginning—with a family of her own and perhaps a tennis ball waiting at home.
Health:
Mandy is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and on monthly preventatives.
Important Information:
All of our dogs, including Mandy, are currently located in Texas and will be transported to their adopters once the adoption is finalized. Transportation is included in the adoption fee.
Please note that adopters will not be able to meet Mandy in person before committing, as transport occurs after the adoption has been finalized.
Breed labels are educated guesses based on appearance and available shelter or medical records. We encourage adopters to focus on each dog’s individual personality, needs, and long-term compatibility rather than breed alone.
