Meet Chimichurri!

Chimichurri is a 4 year old Doodle mix weighing around 50 pounds. We definitely see Poodle in this handsome creamy white boy with golden spots, and possibly some Golden Retriever, but your guess is as good as ours! Whatever his mix may be, what we do know for sure is that Chimichurri has an incredibly sweet soul and truly doesn’t have a mean bone in his body.

Chimichurri came from the same home as Coco, where the dogs were not being properly cared for. Their owner was given the choice of paying a fine and correcting the conditions or surrendering the dogs, and he ultimately chose to surrender them. When Chimichurri arrived, the condition of his coat was heartbreaking. He was severely matted from head to toe, with tight knots covering his body. There was simply no saving his coat, and he had to be completely shaved down. It was incredibly sad to see a dog reach that level of neglect, but thankfully, that part of his life is officially behind him.

Despite everything he’s been through, Chimichurri is so, so sweet. He’s a shy when he first meets you, which isn’t surprising given his past, but he has never shown an ounce of meanness. Once he realizes you’re safe, he starts to relax and soak up the love. He’s wonderful with other dogs and has been very well adjusted around them. Although he came from the same home as Coco, they are not bonded and can absolutely be adopted separately.

Chimichurri is incredibly smart and food motivated. He’s getting the hang of house training and his new routine and is learning to sleep in his crate at night. Considering how different his life is now, he’s adjusting beautifully and simply needs consistency, patience, and kindness as he continues learning what life as a loved family dog is supposed to feel like. And if Chimichurri isn’t quite the name for you, the shelter gave him that name, so he’s certainly not attached to it yet!

Chimichurri will be neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and will have his health certificate prior to adoption. His hair will grow back, those mats will never have to hurt him again, and now he gets the chance to start completely over. This is a good, good boy with such a sweet soul who deserves a family that will make sure he never knows that kind of neglect again.
