Mr. Champion Konar - English Pointer Dog for Adoption in Ridgefield, Washington

Hi. I’m Konar.

I’m a 1 1/2-year-old English Pointer mix, I weigh 27 kg, and I’m a very happy boy.

I’m sweet.

I’m gentle.

I’m playful.

I’m obedient.

And I love people.

I also happen to have three legs.

But if you ask me, that’s just one small part of who I am.

I was found wounded and bleeding in the middle of the street. I had been shot with multiple pellets, including injuries to my front legs.

My rescuer rushed me to the veterinarian, hoping I could be saved.

Sadly, one of my front legs developed a severe infection and would not heal. My right front leg could not be saved, and I had to have it amputated.

But losing my leg didn't take away my happiness.

Today, I’m a playful, affectionate boy who loves being around people, making friends with other dogs and enjoying all the attention I can get.

And now I’m ready for something I’ve been waiting for:

A family of my very own.

Here is my story:

I’m a gentle and affectionate boy with a really lovely personality.

I love people and enjoy being close to them. Give me some pets and attention, and I’m a very happy boy.

I love playing with other dogs too. Having canine friends makes life even more fun.

I’m also good with children, and I would love being part of a family where I can be included in everyday life.

I have a moderate energy level. I enjoy walks and playtime, but I’m also happy to settle down and spend quiet time with my people.

And I’m not just a pretty face.

I’m obedient, eager to please and easy to train.

A Few Things I Already Know

I may still be young, but I’ve already learned some important things.

I’m fully house-trained.

I have excellent leash skills.

I’m obedient and easy to train.

I get along well with other dogs.

And I’m good with children too.

I don’t have any known fears.

Cats, however, are not my friends, so I’m looking for a cat-free home.

And yes, I’m a tripod.

But I don’t spend my days thinking about the leg I lost.

I’m much too busy enjoying the legs I have.

I can walk.

I can play.

I can enjoy my people.

I can be a dog.

And I’m ready to keep doing exactly that.

What I Want Now

I don’t need a family who feels sorry for me.

I need a family who sees me.

The happy boy.

The gentle boy.

The playful boy.

The boy who loves getting pets and spending time with his people.

I want a home where I’m loved for everything I am—not defined by what happened to me.

I want walks with my person.

Playtime with my dog friends.

A comfy bed.

Lots of affection.

Someone who will teach me new things and celebrate my little victories.

And someone who will look at me one day and realize...

I was the one they didn't know they were missing.
