Meet Henry! Henry is a one year old Border Terrier/Schnauzer mix weighing the perfect 23 pounds. We believe he's finished growing, making him the ideal "schmedium" size!
For nearly two months Henry survived on the streets in a small rural town in Southeast Louisiana. Rescuers spent days trying to catch him, but he was simply too frightened to trust anyone. He was finally safely contained in a building, where rescue advocates were able to bring him to the foster home that changed his life.
Henry arrived covered in fleas and ticks with irritated, flaky skin, but after lots of TLC, medicated baths, and proper veterinary care, he's looking and feeling like a brand new dog.
He's 100% potty trained with regular potty breaks or a doggy door (which he's a pro at), wonderful with kids, and does well with other dogs that can appreciate his playful puppy energy. He's a respectful houseguest who doesn't mark, counter surf, dig in the trash, or destroy the yard.
Henry is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, Is HW Negative on heartworm and flea prevention, and will be neutered before adoption.
After surviving life on the streets, Henry is ready to discover what it's like to be someone's beloved best friend. Could that someone be you?

Please note: Information to determine if you might be a match for one of our animals can only be found on our application.
*An inquiry, questions or introduction through Petfinder is NOT an application*
All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info will be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the high volume of introductions/questions received we ask you to submit an application (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).
The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention.
For more on this, or for additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets (including an explanation about Benefactor Dogs), please see our FAQs page:
