DESCRIPTION
Meet Cory, an eight-year-old Border Collie mix weighing 40 pounds.
Cory’s story hasn’t been an easy one, but you’d never know it from the love she’s ready to give. She came to Animal Control as an owner surrender alongside her companion, Jamie, both in rough condition. Cory arrived with missing fur and itchy, flaking skin from chronic issues that had gone untreated—but now that she’s receiving proper care, we’re hopeful her coat and comfort will continue to improve.
She’s also missing some of her front teeth, likely due to past trauma—possibly from trying to chew her way out of confinement. Despite everything she’s been through, Cory hasn’t lost her spirit. This sweet girl still has plenty of energy, curiosity, and affection to share.
Cory is learning that the world can be a safe and happy place. She’s currently working on leash training and is eager to please—she truly wants to be close to her person and soak up attention. So much is new to her, but she approaches it all with a gentle, loving heart.
She’s a wonderful medium size, keeps a clean kennel, and has a calm, manageable presence. Cory would absolutely love to be adopted with Jamie if possible, as they’ve been through so much together—but it’s not a requirement.
If you’re looking for a resilient, sweet companion who just needs a chance to shine, Cory might be your girl.

ABOUT: BORDER COLLIE DOG BREED
The Border Collie is a highly intelligent and energetic dog breed known for their herding capabilities and exceptional obedience. Originating from the border regions of Scotland and England, these agile and versatile dogs are famous for their focus, stamina, and trainability. With their striking black and white coat and intense gaze, Border Collies excel in various canine sports and activities, making them ideal companions for active families and individuals seeking a loyal and dynamic pet.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
