Nettie is 18 months old, 41 pounds, and almost certainly some combination of border collie or Aussie with a Great Pyrenees somewhere back in the family tree taking credit for the hair and coloring.
She is active, friendly and social, with a great deal of enthusiasm for being included. Nettie would love a family who enjoys getting out and doing things, a fenced yard for recreational zooming, and a dog friend to explain how the new household operates. Important matters like where everyone sleeps and which human is most susceptible to staring during dinner require local expertise.
Her manners are generally good. Leash walking remains a subject of philosophical disagreement. Nettie believes a walk is intended to produce forward progress and does not understand why the person who proposed the outing is now impeding it. She is still learning that everyone needs to arrive together.
Our known sample size for Nettie’s experience with cats is one, and that cat is fairly committed to making dogs regret their existence. Nettie has therefore concluded that cats are trying to kill her and gives them plenty of room. A kind, dog-friendly cat could help her discover that something friend-shaped might actually be a friend. She will need a gentle introduction and time to reconsider her findings.
Kids over six would be a good fit, particularly those capable of remaining upright during an enthusiastic delivery of kisses. She has a lot of affection to distribute and very little interest in rationing it.
Nettie needs a fenced yard, a welcoming dog friend, and people who want an affectionate, active young dog fully involved in their lives. She will bring the white fluff, the social calendar and a firm belief that wherever you are going, she should come too.
