Meet Bear!
Bear is a handsome 10 month old Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix weighing a whopping 90 pounds, and this big, beautiful boy is still growing! We’re estimating he could reach somewhere around 120 to 130 pounds full grown, although his exact adult size and breed mix are our best guesses. One thing is for sure...Bear is going to be one BIG bundle of love!
Bear is truly such a sweet, sweet boy with an absolutely wonderful temperament. He’s a big, goofy puppy who seems to love everyone he meets! He’s incredibly friendly, affectionate, gentle, and just an all-around good boy. He hasn’t met a dog he doesn’t like and gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes. He absolutely adores people, too! Cats are currently an unknown, as he hasn’t had the opportunity to meet any.
For being such a big boy, Bear can actually be a bit of a scaredy-cat! New experiences and unfamiliar situations can make him nervous, and when he’s unsure of something, his favorite move is to simply drop to the ground and refuse to budge. Car rides are especially intimidating for him right now. In fact, he was so nervous about getting into the car that a veterinary nurse had to carry this 90-pound baby to the vehicle! He’s truly just a gentle giant who needs a little help building his confidence and learning that the world isn’t such a scary place.
Bear is currently in a loving foster home where he’s learning all about being the best boy he can be! He’s already house trained, knows how to sit on command, and is working hard on his leash manners and basic training. He’s also still learning how to play and enjoy all the fun things that come with being a puppy. His foster mom is helping him build confidence, learn good manners, and adjust to new experiences. Bear is a smart, lovable boy who will continue to thrive with patience, positive reinforcement, and consistency.
We would love to find Bear a family who understands the needs of large and giant breeds, especially livestock guardian breeds like the Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd. He’s still very much a puppy despite his impressive size, and his future family should be prepared to continue his training, socialization, and confidence building as he grows. A home with plenty of space, a family ready for a very large dog, and lots of love to give would be wonderful for this special boy!
Bear is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and will have his health certificate prior to adoption. He’s truly just a big, goofy, lovable gentle giant with so much potential. He’s sweet, social, affectionate, and has a heart just as big as he is. With a family willing to help him navigate the world and continue learning, we know this handsome boy is going to make an absolutely incredible lifelong companion!
