Meet Fern! This irresistibly sweet tripod kitten proves that three legs are more than enough to capture your entire heart!
After a Chicago vet office reached out for help with Fern, a cat who had been surrendered there by their owner, we just couldn't say no. She needed surgery to remove her left hind leg, but first she needed to secure a more long term placement while she waited for adoption. After her leg was removed, she really hit the jackpot of a foster when she got to stay with one of their staff members while she recovered from her surgery. Here is a little more about what she had to say about her stay:
"Fern is just the best thing on 3 legs! She is ready to take her job as your new companion very seriously. Fern's favorite things are cuddling, playing, exploring, and food. Fern really enjoys quality time with her people and she loves to snuggle up with you in bed as close as she possibly can. Her favorite spot is right up by your face.
Just like your average kitten, Fern loves to play. She LOVES toys! Her favorite game is chasing after toy mice you throw for her or wrestling with slippers. She loves her food and would probably be willing to learn some tricks in exchange for treats. Fern is such a sweet and spunky girl who is ready to be your new best friend!"
Fern may be missing a leg, but she doesn't let that hold her back for a second. She gets around with absolute ease and a whole lot of grace. What truly defines this special girl is her endlessly loving nature. Fern is a world-class purr machine and a total cuddle bug who thrives on human affection. Whether she's leaning into your hand for cheek scratches, curling up in your lap, or following you around to keep you company, her cozy and sweet disposition makes
Fern is spayed, up-to-date on FVRCP and Rabies vaccinations, and FIV and FeLV negative.
She is currently staying onsite at our Heartland Facility! Stop by during our open hours on Thursday 4pm-7pm, Friday 4pm-7pm, Saturday Noon-6pm or Sunday Noon-6pm to meet them! No appointment necessary.
