** In order to adopt a kitten from HSMC, you must live within an hour of the shelter. You will initially "foster to adopt" the kitten and then the adoption will be finalized when they are brought back for their spay/neuter surgery. You may need to bring the kitten back for vaccines and exams prior to their spay/neuter surgery**
If you've been searching for a kitten who acts absolutely nothing like a kitten, may we introduce Miss Cyndi.
Cyndi arrived as a tiny, sick, terrified little stray who was trapped alongside a group of kittens who, frankly, she would like everyone to know are not related to her. While they bounce off walls, wrestle with one another and make questionable life choices, Cyndi prefers to sit quietly and observe their nonsense from a safe distance.
At just a 11 weeks old (estimated birthdate is 6/26/26), Cyndi somehow possesses the energy of a retired librarian who has seen it all and would really just like everyone to lower their voices.
When she first arrived in foster care, she was convinced that people were highly suspicious creatures. Fast forward to today, and she has discovered three very important truths:
1- Humans provide cheek scratches
2- Humans provide cuddles
3- Humans provide canned food
These discoveries have dramatically improved her opinion of society.
Now, Cyndi absolutely loves cuddles and being held. In fact, she takes snuggling very seriously. Her preferred cuddle position is any position that allows her to hide her face while simultaneously receiving maximum affection. This is the best way to elicit lots of purrs from this little cutie. She may also be onboard with a kitty cat sling carrier or a hoodie with a dedicated kitty pocket. That's how much she likes to be close to her people.
Cyndi may greet newcomers with a bit of a hiss, but don't be fooled. That's all theater. There is never any swatting, biting, or hostility. It's less "Go away!" and more "Please respect my personal boundaries and understand that I'm just a tiny kitty, and you are a scary giant".
She is sweet, gentle, and incredibly low maintenance. Her perfect day consists of:
Sleeping in her little cat tree house
Gazing thoughtfully out a window
Enjoying some canned food
Receiving cheek scratches
Taking a nap to recover from all of the above
Unlike most kittens, Cyndi does not require a feline wrestling partner. Other cats can exist around her, and she's perfectly polite with them, but when it comes down to it, she probably thinks they are all a bunch of furry, little weirdos.
Because she's such a sensitive little soul, Cyndi would thrive in a quiet home. Busy households, lots of commotion, and loud, young children would likely overwhelm her. Older children who understand her gentle nature would be fine, and she could probably coexist peacefully with other kitties or, a calm, cat-friendly dog who respects her space and doesn't expect her to participate in any silly games.
Cyndi's dream adopter is someone patient, kind, and understanding. Someone who appreciates that trust is earned, not rushed. Someone who will love her exactly as she is while giving her the time and security she needs to continue blossoming.
In return, you'll receive a devoted little companion who asks for very little: a soft bed, a sunny window, some canned food, occasional cheek scratches, and a cozy lap where she can hide her face and pretend she's not enjoying herself.
She's not a wild child, she's not a party girl, and she's likely not going to parkour off your furniture at 3 a.m. She's a tiny old lady in a kitten body, and honestly, we wouldn't change a thing.

Our adoption fee is $100.00 for kittens up to 6 months of age and $80 for cats 7 months and older. It includes: a microchip, spay or neuter, set of shots, de-worming, and a 1-year rabies vaccine (if old enough). Fees can be made by cash or credit card.
